
A combat-decorated veteran of the 1991 Gulf War, Chas Henry served in the US Marine Corps – rising in rank from private to captain. He graduated with honors from the University of Southern California School of Cinema & Television where his coursework focused on documentary filmmaking. He went on to study transnational security issues and financial markets at the University of Oxford, and earned a master's degree in national security studies from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service.
From mid-2001 until early 2005, Chas worked as national security correspondent for the WTOP Radio Network, Washington, DC's all-news radio stations and Internet web sites, where he reported from Iraq, Afghanistan and Qatar. He was frequently heard nationwide on the CBS Radio Network; and was selected for national security-related fellowships by the Radio-Television News Directors Foundation, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Western Knight Center for Specialized Journalism. He presently covers security issues for Washington, DC’s NewsChannel 8 and ABC7.
Chas’ reporting has been recognized with a regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio & Television News Directors Association, and selected for numerous tributes by the Associated Press and the Society of Professional Journalists. In 2002 he was presented with "Best News Reporter" honors at Washington, DC's Achievement in Radio Awards.
